If you have ever been at a crossroads in life, whether you are fresh out of college, been laid off, or you are just sick of your job and want more, then you have definitely wondered if you should choose a career based on money or your passion.
Recently, I helped a man who was trying to make a major decision about his future career path. He had a number of diverse interests in Engineering, Architecture and Design, but he also considered pursuing a career in Medicine or Business for a better income.
If you are in the same situation as him, wondering if you should pick passion or money, then here is what you need to know.
Firstly, I believe with all my heart that you have got to live doing what you love every day.
If you're passionate about something, then you will be thinking, reading and talking about it all the time. This means that any work that you do outside of your passion will be just that - work, and draining and frustrating work at that.
Find work that connects with your passion, and your passion will give you the edge to rise above the crowd and succeed in a way that maximizes your growth AND income.
I don't know what your personal and work experiences have been so far, but I believe that starting a business is the best long-term option for anyone with a passion.
If you're lacking experience in your field of passion, why not work in that field for a couple of years at least and learn the ropes? You'll rise fast in the organization because of your passion, you'll learn so much more than learning in school and you'll be paid to do it.
If your dream is to start your own business eventually, then ensure that you commit funds to realize that dream. When the time comes, you'll have the savings and more importantly the experience and contacts to be able to strike out on your own successfully. Your passion will give you the edge in your marketplace and propel you to become one of the leaders in the field.
Get creative and enthusiastic about doing what you love, and I have no doubt in my mind that you'll find your way to have both passion and money in your life. Just remember that passion has got to come first.About The Author:
