Produced by MediaCorp Raintree Pictures, it's a Great Great World is a local production that gives the younger Singaporeans a peek into our recent past, and for the older generation, a great time reminiscing the good old days at Great World Amusement Park.
It's A Great Great World goes back in time when most people spend their weekends at the then iconic entertainment venue and amusement park, Great World, and follows through the love story of a girl who mans the game booth (Joanne Peh) and a Malaysian boy (Zhang Zhen Huan) – simple, typical but entertaining enough to bring us down the memory lane.
Visually, the film is an appetisingly accurate representation of Singapore back in the 60's and 70's. And set in the backdrop of an amusement park, one can expect to see much old school game booths, rides and cinema houses. Audience can also expect a heartwarming time peppered with laughter – think Auntie Lucy back in time – and amusement hearing familiar dialects that make up the dialogue.
The gigantic cast, which features several familiar faces, includes comedy veterans Chow Chor Meng, Huang Wen yong, Henry Thia, Marcus Chin and Hong Kong actress Nancy Sit, as well as Bryan Wong, Ben Yeo, Kym Ng, and Gurmit Singh among many others. Young starlets such as Joanne Peh, Yvonne Lim, Paige Chua, Zhang Yao Dong and Zhang Zhen Huan play a part too.
In all, It's A Great Great World is a must-watch true-blue Singaporean production for those interested in how your parents lived – or dated – back then. Even better, bring your parents along during the Lunar New Year break!
