Silver Linings Playbook

Silver Linings Playbook is a romantic comedy that successfully pulls off tough issues and despite its predictable ending.

The film begins with a very depressed Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) in a conversation with himself in a mental hospital. His mother (Jacki Weaver) bails him out against doctor's advice as well as without her husband's (Robert De Niro) knowledge. Junior vows to turn over a new life and studies highschool English in a bid to win his wife Nikki back. Then he meets widow Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) who isn't having it well going great too. As they lean on each other for support and as friends with benefits, they find their relationship taking a romantic turn.

Sounds like a typical Hollywood film already? Yes for the happy ending but no for the execution. Cooper and Lawrence makes a great couple despite real-age difference of over a decade. DeNiro himself makes an interesting character. Besides being a Philadelphia Eagles fanatic, he part times as a bookie and is highly suspect of having the obsessive compulsive disorder.

Lovely characters played by a group of charming cast with reasonably formulaic scenes, Silver Linings Playbook is an enjoyable film that reminds us that love can be crazy and two crazies could make a sane relationship.
