There is a new kid on the block by the buzzing stretch of Ann Siang Road where throngs of rambunctious revelers adjourn as dusk falls to party the night away. In the daytime, White Label is a cozy hole-in-the-wall vinyl record store with the soft tinkling of music emanating from its record players, but come evening, its devilish alter-ego takes over and the space is transformed into a bustling bar reverberating with boisterous beats.
White Label was born out of an intense passion for music and its most iconic recording format – the vinyl record. The founders of White Label first kickstarted an app for vinyl record lovers to buy, sell and share vinyl records back in 2013.
Since the inception of Vinyl of The Day #vinyloftheday, the app-based marketplace has garnered a worldwide social media following and app platform userbase numbering in the hundreds of thousands. The app's immense success has led to the manifestation of White Label – a record store and bar coalesced into a unique brick-and-mortar boutique.
Founders Darren Tan, Kurt Loy and Sharon Seet are all about music and people. With White Label's roots deeply entrenched in Vinyl of The Day #vinyloftheday and Singapore Community Radio, its founders have always believed in fostering and contributing to the growing community of music curators, lovers and creators.
White Label aspires to be more than a store, a cafe or a restaurant. White Label is a space for gigs, workshops, screenings and talks, too. White Label is a place where the music community can convene and be brought together with the resources, knowledge and opportunities to create, curate and perform.
Serving as a community space for #vinyloftheday users and like-minded music lovers, White Label offers the perfect experience for music enthusiasts: one can enjoy excellent food and drinks, thumb through records, catch DJs and live acts, and meet other crate diggers.
Apart from stocking a current selection of records and highlights from various eras, White Label will feature a regularly rotating, curated selection of offerings from local and regional record stores. A Singapore record store map will be available exclusively in-store later this year.
A record store by day, White Label transforms into a bar by dusk, offering a rotating all-day bar menu that features a selection of cold brews, mixed drinks, craft beers and bar bites. Limited lunch sets will be available at midday, on a first-come-first-serve basis.
White Label's signature cocktails will include a Vodka-based fresh fruit Mojito, the White Label Iced Tea, a tea-based Long Island, as well as a Chrysanthemum vodka martini. A seasonal selection of handpicked single malts and gin, craft beers, boutique champagne and wines will also be available.

Expect many special music-themed nights to follow, as founders Kurt & Darren are expected to showcase vinyl records from their diverse personal collections. And if you like what you hear, they will be more than happy help you track down a copy.
“We feel that nothing transcends the analog experience of record store shopping. There is no better retail therapy than walking into a record store, thinking that you already what you want, before leaving with some unexpected new finds,” said Darren Tan, co-founder of #vinyloftheday. “We hope this will be a place where music lovers can discover both new music and new people.”
