You don't need expensive trips to the spas – or the staggering salon bills that comes along with it – to achieve glowing skin and luxurious hair. Taking care of your hair and skin at home using natural ingredients could be both easy and cost effective. So, take a peek into your kitchen cabinet, and I'll bet we can whip up a nourishing mask with the same ingredients you use to make breakfast.

Care for your Complexion

Cleansing is essentially the most important step for good complexion. Choose a suitable makeup removal to remove your makeup and waterproof sun block. Following this, apply a mild cleanser to eliminate any remnants of impurities.

Now, here comes the home remedy. Mix some oatmeal and honey into a paste. Use a spoon and mix it in a small bowl before adding some water to dilute the mixture. Honey has healing and moisturising properties; it is good for all skin type including sensitive skin.

Stir until the mixture is consistent. It should be slightly thick and creamy in texture so that it doesn't drip when you apply a layer onto your cleaned face. Leave it on for a full 20 minutes for your skin to absorb the goodness of the ingredients.

Before washing the mask off, add some water to massage the mask for 2 mins, it can double up as an exfoliator to remove dead skin. The oatmeal in the mask works to absorb excess oil in the pores and also assists in removing excess dead skin cells.

Manning that Mane

Taking care of your hair is very much the same as taking care of your skin. The three primary steps to hair care include cleansing, exfoliating and conditioning.

Using a suitable shampoo to cleanse your scalp, and exfoliate skin cells which clogs up your hair follicles with the ball of your fingers, gently massaging your scalp in circular motions.

And for conditioning, get one part honey and mix with one part olive oil, and rub the mixture into your hair. Leave in for 20 minutes before you shampoo off the mask and run your fingers through your new soft voluminous hair.

Honey is an active ingredient which helps to revitalize your hair and scalp, while olive oil adds moisture and shine to dry hair ends. This mask is unlike those commercial conditioners on the market, and one bonus point for them is that you can apply them even on the scalp as it does not contain a single chemical.
