World's First Spreadable Beer Allows You To Enjoy Your Favorite Drink For Breakfast

This one is going to make all your beer-lovers out there very happy. There is no need for you to impatiently wait till 5pm anymore (in order not to seem like a raging alcoholic) to enjoy a nice, cold pint of beer when you can have your favorite beverage early in the day without all that social stigma. The world's first spreadable beer – Birra Spalmabile – is a genius Italian invention that offers you the option of having toast with beer without anyone judging you about it. This delectable beer-based breakfast spread will go great with biscuits, bread, crepes, cake, tarts and other kinds of pastries.
Even though Birra Spalmabile is made of 40 percent beer (whoohoo!) it is predominantly sweet to taste. The spread comes in two flavors – one light and delicate (made with Greta blond ale), and the other with a stronger and more profound flavor (made with Omid dark ale).

Since this is the first of its kind, the beer spread does not come cheap, both flavors are available for purchase internationally at US$51 for a 280 gram jar here. If you are seriously considering getting this (I know I am), you got to wait a little while for it to be restocked as they were all quickly snapped up when they were released on the site for international purchase.
The ingenious creation is the result of a collaboration between chocolatier Pietro Napoleone and Alta Quota brewery. Through chemical trial-and-error, they managed to concentrate the brewery’s Omid dark ale and Greta blond ale, and then transform the composite into a rich, creamy consistency a.k.a. Heaven-in-a-jar.

“We created a cream made of beer by balancing every ingredient we used and also by knowing the reactions by mixing these ingredients,” said commercial manager Francesca Napoleone. “So we’ve created a product which is very smooth and creamy, resulting, as the name itself suggests, in a spreadable beer because it can be spread just like chocolate cream.”
“This is not the first time in Italy and in Europe that someone has tried to make a non-liquid beer, but the experiments carried out have not been successful because the combination of ingredients was not a winner,” added Alta Quota’s Claudio Lorenzini. “We believe that we have found the right formula with the use of high-quality products. For us this is the future.”

The product description on Selfridges says:
“Beer lovers rejoice, you can now enjoy your favourite tipple with cheeses and bread with Omid dark ale spreadable beer. An ingenious collaboration between an Italian chocolate maker and an Italian beer brewer, the result is a sweet and beer-perfumed jelly with an intense scent and a full-bodied taste. The beer spread provides a unique accompaniment for hors d'oeuvres and cheeses, or even try spread on toast or as a stuffing or garnish for tarts and cakes.”
Move aside Nutella! There is a new contender in town ready to win the hearts of hungry beer-fanatics!
