Lunch is over and you are still three hours away from dinner. What can you do except to snack? Office workers often snack during office hours be it as a quick meal or simply to shut the growling stomach up. Here, yogurt represents a good healthy choice. And with frozen yogurt (or Fro Yo) stores like Frolick and Yoguru mushrooming across the island, Singaporeans now have the choice of having yogurt cool them down in the humid weather on top of being a healthy treat.
Yogurt is essentially milk or cream that is cultured with good bacteria beneficial for the body. Nutrients included are calcium, magnesium, fiber, potassium and vitamins A, C, and E. Most importantly, milk in itself is very high in calcium and hence beneficial for the bones and its frozen cousin, Fro Yo, may possibly be a good sneaky alternative for those who are lactose intolerant.
Besides, these bacteria Probiotics are enemies to harmful ones that cause bacterial infections and diseases. They also aid your digestive system, boost the immune system, lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and decrease the chances of urinary tract infections and yeast infections by three-fold, a common problem for females.
Yogurt may also be a good part of your diet in more ways than one. Using it as a staple and by adding a variety of fillers such as fruits, berries and/or nuts, you can have your cake, or dessert, and eat it healthy. The milk variant is also filled with protein, which provides your body with energy for the day and keeps us feeling full till the next meal - the perfect choice as a snack! Related links:
