M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2011

Presented by The Necessary Stage in collaboration with Esplanade, the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2011 is an annual arts festival that showcases visual arts, theatre, dance, music and other mixed media of artists from all over the world, including Singapore's own.

Henry Miller puts this year's theme nicely: "Art teaches nothing, except the significance of life". Themed "Art and Education" for its seventh installment this year, the event seeks to explore and present the concept of art as a vehicle for education to the general public.


The festival, featuring 18 cutting-edge works from 10 countries, will be divided into four categories namely Live Fringe (theatre and performance), Sonic Fringe (music-related acts), Fringe Gallery (visual arts) and Back to School. Some highlights include Another Me: Transformations from Pain to Power by Achinto Bhadra, School of Hard Knocks by the little drom store, What Did You Learn Today? by Sean Tobin and Natalie Hennedige and Aromascape of Singapore by Maki Ueda.
