The first few days of the Chinese New Year may be over now but you can still get a dose of traditions and cultures at Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2011 from now until 13 February.
The 10-day Chinese festival, launched in 2003, coincides with the festive period and is found at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in celebration of Singapore's multi-cultural heritage. Through Huayi as a platform, the works of Chinese performing artists both traditional and contemporary, mainstream and cutting-edge, will be showcased.
Highlights include a concert by local singer Kit Chan, who returns after taking a six-year break, Hong Kong's City Contemporary Dance Company's performance, puppet shows by master puppeteers from Xiamen, China, as well as local production, Deciphering the Peach Garden Oath.
After all, what better way to end off the festive season than with a dose of the related culture?Related link: Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2011 website
