MAAD Flea Market

There's so much to do this weekend! On the national level, it's time for us to cast that important vote – and commemorate it. At home, there's a mother to celebrate for. Why not combine the two at the MAAD flea market?

Besides enjoying the cool artefacts at the red dot design museum, visitors may get their portraits painted by the artists and illustrators from the Organisation of Illustrators Council (OIC). Simply sit still with mummy dearest and pose for 20 minutes, and you get to pick from a pool of portraits by various artists and their respective styles. Portraits go at only $10 per piece!

If mummy's too shy to get a portrait, you could learn how to make sushi on the spot. Ingredients include shrimp, tamale, avocado, cucumber or tuna – you could mix and match to mom's liking. Timings for the 60-minute classes are at 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, and 2pm on Sunday, and costs $30 per pax. Several stalls selling handicraft items like hand-drawn notebooks, hand-stitched fashions and custom-made jewellery will be available for those who would love a little retail therapy after casting a tough vote!
