Presented by Wild Rice Singapore, Cooling Off Day is a must-watch local play that touches on questions concerning our nationality, which were sparked off by the watershed 2011 General Elections.
In the days leading up to the voting day as well as post-election, acclaimed playwright Alfian Sa'at interviewed Singaporeans from all walks of life and of various ages for their answers to the insightful questions of "why do you vote?", "what issues influenced your vote?" and "what does citizenship mean to you?". From election candidates to pro-establishment civil servants; from taxi-drivers to teachers; from opposition supporters to young people casting their first votes, this play, directed by directed by Ivan Heng and Jo Kukathas and featuring Janice Koh, Neo Swee Lin, Jo Kukathas, Najib Soiman, Peter Sau and Rodney Oliveiro, will set you thinking – or rethinking – about your own choice.
The play runs from 23 February to 11 March 2012 at SOTA Drama Theatre. Tickets range from $44 to $59, with early bird prices from 3 January to 1 February 2012. To purchase yours, visit any Sistic booths or book online at its website. Related link: Sistic website
