Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2013

Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2013, which features both traditional and modern works by Chinese artists, will be on from 15 to 24 February this year.

The 10-day festival at the Esplanade is one of the three annual cultural festivals at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, whereby outstanding Chinese artists of all genres are given a platform to showcase their works.

Some highlights include Awakening, an interpretation of Dream of the Red Chamber by Edward Lam which stars actress Denise Ho, a performance by threatre troupe Zuni Icosahedron, an adaptation of Eileen Chang's Eighteen Springs, Nine Years Theatre's rendition of Twelve Angry Men, In::music series featuring The Freshman and Taiwanese indie band BearBabes among many others.

There are a mix of free – such as Joyous Melodies by Jing Ying Chamber Ensemble, Meet the BaoZ by Luo BaoLing Audrey and Ling Poh Foong, Reimagining Chinese Classics by Rit Xu Trio, The Elegance of Ruan by Ruan Xian Quartet, Up close with singer-songwriter Lin Si Tong, Sounds of the Sheng by Resonance, Black Forest's Forestation Music Journey by Black Forest and more – and ticketed performances and tickets can be purchased online or at any Sistic outlet.
