Every time October rolls around, the Germans never fail in displaying their expertise of holding the biggest and baddest booze-filled festival much to the envy of beer-revelers all around the world. Oktoberfest in Munich, Bavaria, Germany has been the world’s largest funfair for 204 years now. Many of us dream of chugging Oktoberfest brew to our hearts’ content in Germany while breathing in the alluring smells of roast pork and sausages, but it doesn’t make sense to pay so much for an air ticket to fly all the way to Munich only to realize you can’t order anything because you don’t speak German. Why not then bring Germany’s Oktoberfest to us? This year, Oktoberfest Asia returns for the second year running to Keppel Island so that you can enjoy the true Bavarian experience right on the sunny shores of Singapore.
The much anticipated Bavarian event is not to be missed for all beer-lovers out there. Oktoberfest Asia 2014 starts kicking it on 9 October to 11 October 2014 and promises to be more exciting than ever as compared to its predecessor with more Bavarian beers to choose from, and more authentic cuisine prepared by an acclaimed chef specially flown in from Bavaria, all in the comfort of an air-conditioned marquee tent.
Beer enthusiasts will be treated to exclusive German beer and liquor. The 3-day celebration will feature renowned breweries such as Benediktiner, Bitburger, Weihenstephan and Weltenburger Kloster, Schneider Weisse and Paulaner Bräuhaus that will be added to this year’s draught beer lineup. In case you are not familiar with these breweries with their weird German names, let us just assure you that they have been picked out of the best of the best to appear in this year’s event and introduced to your palates. The dedicated organizers aim at being as authentic as possible by introducing the best beers Bavaria has to offer.
Bitburger is one of Germany’s top selling lagers from the Rhineland-Palatinate region. All the way from the Ettal monastery in Bavaria, Benediktiner will be presenting their Weissbier (Wheat Beer). Weihenstephan, the world’s oldest brewery founded in 1040, will be showcasing Weihanstephan Festbier specifically brewed for Oktoberfest in Bavaria annually. Weltenburger Kloster, the world’s oldest Abbey brewery will be showcasing the original Anno 1050, a beer specifically brewed under the same specifications back in 1050. World famous German liquor, Jägermeister will again be the choice of shots for the night.
You will definitely need some delicious grub to go along with all that exquisite beer. This year’s culinary offerings will be prepared by a true Bavarian touch. Josef Nagler, Chef de Cuisine at Weisses Bräuhaus Munich has specially curated a 3-course gourmet Bavarian menu and will be personally overseeing the preparation of your meal. Josef started training from 1977 at “Zum Spöckmeier“, a famous Munich traditional restaurant and from 1993, started working at Weisses Bräuhaus, rising from Sous Chef to Chef De Cuisine in 2004. He specializes in Bavarian dishes in the old tradition style and has a strong interest in beer and food pairing, so you can be sure that the food you receive is as authentic as it gets and complements your choice of beer.
