Timbre+ is organizing a full-blown food festival with fun activities and gastronomical galore for family and friends on 23 and 24 July 2016. The Open Stoves event aims in bringing behind-the-scenes kitchen preparation into full view for the public, while delighting their tastebuds and offering a unique dining experience with International cuisines expertly interweaved together.
If Open Stoves serves anything like Timbre+'s impressive list of talented tenants do, then it definitely will not disappoint. We covered over 20 items in Timbre+ in our review here
, and it was to our utmost amazement that everything we tasted was the epitome of perfection.
The Open Stoves event involves at least nine Timbre+ food partners and five invited chefs who will be coming together to whip up local delights with a spin. The collaboration between the Timbre+ chefs and invited chefs will feature unique off-menu items created from their different cuisine styles and cooking techniques. These specially concocted dishes are available at Open Stoves and also for four weeks at Timbre+ after the event.
You can look forward to these exquisite dishes created exclusively for Open Stoves:
Prata taco with Crispy Braised Tripe
Prata Taco with BBQ Pork Collar
1. Prata Taco with Stewed Tripe or BBQ Pork Collar, a modern Singaporean take on soft-shelled tacos.
– Chef Jeremy (Dusk by Slake) and Chef Tan Huang Ming (Park Bench Deli)
Confit Pork Ribs with Coffee Glaze & Achar
2. Coffee Glazed Pork Ribs with Almond Flakes and Achar. This dish is prepared with French cooking techniques with additional local play by the coffee glaze and achar.
– Chef Alexandar Chong (Garçons) and Chef Wayne Liew (Keng Eng Kee Seafood)
Cebu Bellychon Curry Noodles with Salted Vegetables & Lime
3. Cebu Bellychon Curry Noodles with Salted Vegetable and Lime, a dish that pays homage to both chef’s roots.
– Chef Christian Calledo (Iskina Cebu Singapore) and Chef Bjorn Shen (Artichoke and Bird Bird)
4. Mango Kueh Salat; the only collaborative dessert on the list.
– Chef Shaun See (Tuk-Tuk Viethai Cuisine) and Chef Daniel Sia (The Disgruntled Chef)
5. A new approach to Teppei’s crowd-pleasing sashimi-loaded Kaisendon.
– Chef Teppei Yamashita (Teppei Daidokoro) and Chef Anthony Yeoh (Cocotte)
Durian Ice Cream with Sticky Rice
In addition to the five delicious dishes meticulously created with the thought of Singaporeans' tastebuds in mind, there will be a uniquely Singaporean set meal with Chef Chung Deming (Kush), Chef Damian D'Silva (Damian D'Silva), and Chef Jeremy Cheok teaming up to extend a 3-course Mod Sin menu made up of a Chilli Crab Rillette appetizer, Nasi Kining Opor Ayam as the main course, and ending it on a sweet note with a Duriancanboleh dessert. Customers who purchase this set meal get to enjoy 10% discount off drinks from Timbre+ Bottle Shop.
Open Stoves’ gastronomic journey does not end here. The outdoor Courtyard at Timbre+ becomes a BBQ Blowout picnic area where Timbre+ chefs will be grilling up a storm with more off-menu BBQ creations. Chef Bernie Utchenik from Big Bern’s American Grill is serving a special Striploin Steak for customers. Chef Chung Deming is bringing his signature Chicken Satay Burger with homemade rice patties. Dancing Crab Shack is grilling two kinds of Lobster Tails (available with signature sauce or zesty garlic butter) with Grilled Brioche Bun.
To add to the quintessential barbecue-picnic weekend experience, the Courtyard gets converted into a large outdoor playground complete with picnic benches, beanbags and hammocks for lounging.
Expect upsized Jenga, Connect Four and Pick-up Sticks games, neon beer pong and even Run-the-Dish and Beer Mile races for the adults. The little ones can occupy themselves with a bouncy castle, arts and craft station and cardboard forts.
To top it all off, Timbre’s trademark blend of energetic, live music from Timbre resident bands SuperSonic, O.K READY! and other prominent musical acts, such as Singapore’s only Beatles tribute band, The Daytrippers, will be scheduled through out the two days as well.
With good food, great music, and entertainment for all friends and families, Open Stoves is set to be a great weekend for all. Mark your calendars for Open Stoves next month.
