Experience Korea right here on our sunny island of Singapore on 14 to 19 October 2017 at Our Tampines Hub. You no longer have to look on in envy at the carefully curated Instagram photos of your friends' travels to Korea when you can enjoy the bulk of Korean culture, technology, beauty and food without having to fly out of the country.
A little Korea, aptly named K-Square, will be set up within the newly launched Our Tampines Hub, Singapore's first-ever integrated community and lifestyle hub. K-Square will feature the crème de la crème of Korean experiences, with convival activities scheduled for all fun-loving people spanning across multiple generations.
The 6-day event wholeheartedly welcomes the public and is spread across 6 signature K-Zones consisting of K-Culture, K-Food, K-Technology, K-Beauty, K-Travel and the PyeongChang Winter Olympic House.
To effectively cater to all races and religions of our multi-racial society, K-Square is also planning to feature a Halal K-Food section so that the local Muslim community may partake in the delicious Korean culinary offerings.
The festivities will kick off with an Opening Ceremony on 14 October at 1pm, with a special appearance and opening speech by His Excellency Lee Sangdeok, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Singapore, followed by a message from the Guest-of-Honor Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources.
An exciting line up of stage performances showcasing Korea's rich culture has been specially curated for your entertainment at the Opening Ceremony. Musician Lee Seul Gi, performing in collaboration with Pro Jeong Kyeong Hwa (Sori) and Shin Su Youn (Keyboard), will serenade the audience with the Gayageum, a traditional Korean string instrument that was invented as early as the 6th Century in Korea.
Singaporean singer Akif Halqi, who was awarded "Best Vocal" at the Grand Finals of KBS K-Pop World Festival 2017, will raise the roof with a K-Pop performance onstage. The Original Drawing Show by artistic producer Kim Jin-kyu will keep the audience enraptured with the harmonious mix of live drawings intermingling with performance arts.
The finale to the Opening Ceremony will put the audience on the edge of their seats with a thrilling action-packed Taekwondo performance by the Singapore Tawkwondo Federation.
Daily Stage Activities
Dynamic showcases representative of both traditional and modern Korea will entertain the masses on stage throughout the 6-day event. The titillating array of performances include a melodious Samul Nori performance by the Singapore Korean Dance Company, trendy K-Pop performances by the winners of the KBS K-Pop World Festival 2017, and a heatwarming K-animation screening marathon for the younger crowd.
If you have ever dreamt about marrying a handsome oppa or a pretty Korean lady, you may need to brush up on some Korean traditions and cultural practices in order to impress your future parent-in-laws. Get hands-on with traditional games, craft and cultural appreciation activities like learning how to build a kite, competing in a Jegi Chagi and Paengi (Korean spinning top) competition, mastering the art of Ttakiji (an intricate game played with folded paper tiles), or enjoying traditional tea appreciation.
Stay up to date with the future of Korean technology. Presented by Hyundai Motor and LG Electronics, explore cutting edge Korean automotive technology present in Hyundai Motor's latest series of vehicles. Homemakers can also jump on the K-Technology bandwagon with the smart products by LG Electronics incorporated into household appliances for the kitchen, laundry room and home office.

You can also take part in a Korean cuisine cooking contest with the Hansik Contest taking place in the brand new culinary studios in Our Tampines Hub. The contest is open to Singaporeans from all over the island, with attractive prizes to be won.

With all the hype surrounding the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, the PyeongChang Winter Olympic House is definitely worth checking out for a sneak preview of great things to come.
