Cityscapes - Design By Sound

27th November 2009 to 30th November 2009

'Cityscapes - Design By Sound', which includes a feature exhibition, artist talks and a release party, is held in conjunction with the Singapore Design Festival 2009.

Organised by Perspektif, the exhibition is a collaboration between the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) and a team of local sound practitioners. For the exhibition, they come together with visually handicapped participants from the SAVH to explore the influence of sound on perception, behaviour, orientation, technology, space, time, mobility and movement of the visually handicapped.

The end result, a audio journal series, is designed by Belgian designer Tom Merchx and showcases the works of seven Singapore-based sound practioners - sonicbrat, Randolf Arriola, mux, Eswandy Sarip, Kamal Lufti, Johnson Zhang and Mark Wong - as well as renowned sound designer, Michael Fakesch.

Part of the proceeds from the sales of the journals will be donated to the SAVH. They are available for pre-order on the Cityscapes website, from 20th November 2009 to 30th November 2009.
