In collaboration with VivoCity, National Geographic presents travelling exhibition, 'From China to Arabia, Ancient Treasure Ship & the Great Oman Voyage', where 90 rare exhibition pieces dating from the 9th century AD through 16th century AD are showcased. From now until 18 July 2010, the exhibition makes its first stop at VivoCity's Central court on level one before moving on to China and the Middle East next.
The artefacts on display, borrowed from the Museum of East Asian Art in Bath, UK, Bait Al Zubair Museum in Muscat, Oman, and the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, Sultanate of Oman, are brought together in a single exhibition to highlight the importance of the ancient global trade between the great powers. This exhibition will also coincide with the world premier of a National Geographic Channel special on the recreation of a 9th Century AD Treasure Ship which will sail from Oman to Singapore this year.
Admission goes at $2 per head with 50 per cent of the nett proceeds going to charity, Very Special Arts, which looks at providing art opportunities for people with disabilities. Each ticket holder will also receive a $80 Lee Hwa Jewellery gift voucher upon entry. VivoCity
