Perfect Pairings and Wine Recipes

Learn how to marry gourmet food with classic wines and impress both friends and business partners alike. Organised by the People's Association, 'Perfect Pairings and Wine Recipes' is hosted by oenologist George Wong and Funky Chef Melvyn.

Participants will learn to pair wines like Moscato, Sauvigon Blanc and Shiraz with local delights such as roti prata, cereal prawn and chicken satay from wine expert George. Also, demonstrations of wine-infused recipes – Braised Lamb Shank with Red Wine and Root Vegetables, and Poached pears in red wine served with mascarpone drizzled with Honey – will be performed by chef Melvyn.

Wine lover George Wong is an accredited wine lecturer from Bordeaux Wine School, with an MBA in Wine. He was also a speaker, moderator and wine judge for master classes in the recent World Gourmet Summit. Funky Chef Melvyn specialises in European cuisine and is well versed in giving fine foods an imaginative twist to suit diverse palates.

Tickets goes at $20 for PA members and $25 for non-members and the session is held at Lau Pa Sat Festival Market on 28 August, 4-6.30pm. Each participant will receive a goodie bag by Food and Travel magazine, and may register at Tanglin, Pek Kio, Tanjong Pagar, Cairnhill or Tiong Bahru Community Centre.
