15 Facts About Cats

Cats are mysterious animals who mostly keep to themselves, and will maul your face off if you express your affection for them for more than a fraction of a second too long. That previous sentence may or may not be right as it is based on my observation of cats. However these following 15 facts about cats have been proven to be true:
Cat Fact 1:
Cats are America's most popular pets. There are 88 million domesticate cats compared to 74 million dogs recorded to be living in U.S. homes.
Cat Fact 2:
Some cats have survived falls from over 32 stories, which is approximately 320 meters, onto solid concrete. Contrary to popular belief, this is not due to them having 9 lives, instead it is due largely to their “righting reflex”.
Cat Fact 3:
Every year, nearly 4 million cats are eaten in China as a delicacy.
Cat Fact 4:
Cats have 32 muscles that control their outer ear, allowing their ears to pivot in different directions. Humans only have a pathetic number of 6.
Cat Fact 5:
Apparently cats are so awesome, they get voted to office. A cat has been the Mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska for 15 years.

Cats can't taste sweetness.
Cat Fact 7:
Cats sleep for 70% of their lives.
Cat Fact 8:
The longest cat in the Guinness Book of World Records measured 1.23 meters (48.5 inches) when fully stretched out.
Cat Fact 9:
The oldest video of cats on Youtube dated back to 1894 which featured two cats “boxing”. Like all other recent cat videos out there, this one did not have a purpose other than recording silly cat antics.

Researchers found that owning a cat can reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes by more than a third.
Cat Fact 11:
Adult cats know how to meow to communicate with humans.
Cat Fact 12:
The CIA spent US$20 million in the 1960s training cats to spy on the Soviets. The first spy cat was knocked down by a taxi.

A cat inherited US$13 million after its Italian owner passed away.
Cat Fact 14:
In Korea and Japan, there are cat cafes where you can go to have coffee or tea and hang out with cats for hours. Recently, the first cat cafe opened in Singapore, which is quite silly as we already had something like that prior to this which is simply called Coffee Shops or Void Decks where there would always be stray cats roaming around.
Cat Fact 15:
According to a study, it has been deduced that cats actually recognize their owners' voices, but seem too cool to care.
