Not one, but TWO couples tied the knot at the annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Des Moines, Iowa this year, vowing to love each other in “good times and bacon”. Now that's my kind of wedding, like I always say; a marriage built on the foundation of bacon will always withstand the test of time, that and the porking will always be phenomenal.
The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival
is a day dedicated to the awesome-ness of bacon. Attendees can compete in a sumptuous bacon-eating contest, listen to lectures about bacon, and sample various kinds of bacon from vendors. If that is not heaven on Earth, I don't know what is.
The first happy couple to be wedded in bacon bliss, Tricia Snider and Tom Watson, decided to get married at the festival after the bride-to-be found out that “Viva Las Bacon” was this year's theme. “I said, 'Sweet, we love bacon',” Snider told The Des Monines Register
Watson said that Snider is one of the greatest loves of his life, jokingly (or seriously, you can never be too sure when bacon is concerned) adding that “She's second only to bacon.”
Their ceremony was officiated by Adam Poch, former Big Brother contestant and host of the Travel Channel’s Bacon Paradise, who had a bacon-themed wedding himself last year.
The second couple, Craig Rouch and April Davila, sealed their vows a few hours later in the festival's public arena amidst much cheer amongst other bacon fans. The bacon lovers competed against dozens of other couples
to have their wedding held at the Bacon Festial.
Davila was given away by Bacon Fest organizer Brooks Reynolds, who wore a very classy (and delicious) bacon-printed suit.
The bride held a lovely bouquet made up of bacon roses as she and the groom recited their vows and united their love
by ceremoniously sharing a piece of bacon.
The groom couldn't help it but chew a little off one of the bacon roses from his bride's bacon bouquet. After which Davila threw her beautiful bouquet over her head in tradition to a massive bunch of eager and hungry ladies. After the ceremony ended, the couple gleefully made their way through the crowd while they pelted the newly wed couple with celebratory bacon bits.
FreshGrads would like to send our well wishes to the two happily married couples. May your bacon always be bountiful.
