We are all growing sick of looking at the same old run-of-the-mill wedding photos, as pretty as the bride may be. Which is why an unconventional photographer decided to abandon the mainstream traditional wedding shoot and took his brides and grooms underwater instead. The results are extremely stunning; the brides look like underwater goddesses with their hair flowing out from behind them, their wedding gowns swirled around them in a cascade of white fabric, and a look of serenity and bliss on their faces.
Photographer Adam Opris grew up loving the outdoors and said he has practically lived in the ocean his whole life. The inspiration to carry out underwater photoshoots struck when he was going through amazing images of surfers diving underwater from all over the world.
He bought an Ikelite housing to waterproof his camera and taught himself everything he could about taking photographs underwater from articles that involved photographing marine life. After a couple of trial-and-error, he snapped some shots of children and pregnant women underwater. But since he mainly works as a wedding photographer, he felt that it was only natural that he photographed brides.
So after a client of his agreed to be the first to have her wedding photos taken in a swimming pool, Adam was immediately blown away by how beautifully a wedding dress flows underwater. After a few pool sessions, Adam was eager to take it to the next level; the ocean. He found a group of divers who were willing to get into wedding dresses and tuxedos and join him 30 feet below sea level in the Florida Keys to shoot amongst the coral reefs.
It took months of detailed planning and an entire crew of safety divers to pull off an array of bridal fashion in the depths of the ocean but it was all worth it in the end. The results are breath-taking and surreal with the lady divers looking like ethereal mermaid brides.
