No matter where you are in the gaming spectrum, we all have two things in common: we all love winning, and we all hate losing. That’s what makes games so enjoyable – you play them to win, and when you do win, it’s an exhilarating feeling.
In every game that I play, I’m often among the strong contenders to win right until the very end. I realised that the reason why I’m such a strong games player is:
1. I always play to win.
2. I never, ever give up on #1 right up to the very end.
I could have the worst position in the game, but you know what? I will still believe that I can win, and I will do everything that I can to win. That doesn’t mean I turn the game around by belief alone most times, but it has resulted in some against the odds victories. By now most my friends have picked up on that, so they know never to let up on me even when it looks like I am losing.
One thing I noticed in the midst of all this gaming is that most of my friends who tend to lose more often than not either:
1. Don’t know what they need to do to win.
2. Give up midway and just aim to finish the game as quickly as possible so they can start a new game.
So, what’s all this got to do with you? Well first of all, we are all playing out a game in our lives. You may or may not know it, or choose to recognize it as such, but it’s a serious game we’re playing here – it’s called Life. (Not to be confused with the Game Of LifeTM, a popular board game!)
We have all got objectives that we have set for ourselves – call them goals, dreams, targets – that define our win. We have all got 15-16 hours a day to play towards our win. We also have got rules that we play by, like them or not.
So, let me ask you this:
1. Are you always playing to win?
2. Are you doing everything that you can each day to make #1 a reality?
If the answer is no, then I want to challenge you to stop being just a finisher and start becoming a winner. If you are saying “Yes Thad, I want to have that belief that I can win”, then it’s time to put that into action wherever you are in your ‘game’!
It may be coming to the end of your school year, your time in high school, your university semester, or your sports season. No matter how far you are from your goals – play strong, and play to win!About The Author:
